Hotel Description:
The Best Western Mosborough Hall Hotel is situated on the Yorkshire/ Derbyshire border and six
miles from Sheffield City Centre and the Sheffield Airport. The hotel is well placed for
business or leisure. The Meadowhall, the Arena, Chatsworth House, Sherwood Forest, Doncaster
Racecourse, and numerous other attractions are within 30 minutes drive.
The hotel dates back in parts to the 12th Century and the main building to 15th Century. Full
of history (Henry VIIIs son was born there in 1524 to Mary Boleyn), the building commands an
imposing view over the surrounding countryside. If one is lucky, one may also meet the
resident ghost. The present owner purchased the building in 1972 and after two and a half
years of careful restoration opened it as a hotel and restaurant in May 1974. The head chef
Ian Torpey has deservedly been awarded AA Rosettes for the last three years in recognition of
the quality and variety of his food and the Table d htte, three course menu (changed daily) is
at an excellent value. The Stables doubles as a conference venue for upto 90 delegates or
private banqueting suite being complete with its own bar, kitchens and dance floor. Barbeques
are held there frequently during the summer months.
The rooms vary in size and decor, some have four poster bed and although all are ensuite, the
character of the rooms in the main building has been retained.
