the 19th century Holbeck Ghyll was bought in 1888 by Lord Lonsdale one of the richest men in
the country to use as his hunting lodge.  Holbeck Ghyll has been privately owned since 1988 by

Driving Directions

Directions to the hotel - From the South -M6 North to Junction 36 - A591 to Windermere. Continue 3 miles towards Ambleside pass Brockhole Visitors Centre then turn right to Troutbeck -Holbeck Lane-. Hotel is half a mile on the left. . Directions to the hotel - From the North - Follow M6 South to junction 40 for Penrith. Take the A66 to Keswick. Join the A591 passing Grasmere and Ambleside. Approximately 1 mile south of Ambleside just after Low Wood Hotel turn left into Holbeck Lane. The hotel drive is 0.5 miles up the lane on the left hand side.
